A nighttime skin care routine is extremely important in overall skin health. Whether it’s makeup left on all day or exposing your skin to harsh weather, a little TLC before bedtime can make a big difference in your skin’s appearance. Nighttime skin care doesn’t have to be an involved process, but two important things need to happen – cleansing and moisturizing.
Step 1 – Cleansing
Wash your face at night. No matter how tired you are, do not go to sleep with makeup still on your face. If you do, you might wake up with acne, pimples, or other skin blemishes. Repeatedly leaving mascara on will dry out eye lashes and will eventually make them brittle. Skin needs a chance to breath and it’s a little hard to do that with the remnants of makeup foundation and everything else our skin is exposed to during the course of a day.
Use an eye makeup remover before cleansing your face. Most skin cleansers aren’t designed to clean around the eye area. Use a small amount of soy skin cleanser with a little lukewarm water and rub gently into your face and neck. Don’t expect a lot of lather or suds with soy skin cleansers, as they do not contain the chemical lathering agents most have come to expect in traditional cleansing products.
Soy skin cleansers rinse off easily while gently removing makeup, dirt, and bacteria without irritation or dryness. Avoid traditional skin cleansers containing sulfates which can irritate the eyes and skin.
Got problem skin such as dry, oily, combination, eczema, psoriasis or acne? No need for a special skin cleanser. Soy’s natural saponins draw out harmful substances which contribute to problem skin, while the lecithin in soy breaks down oils and acts as a firming agent.
Step 2 – Moisturizing
After cleansing, apply a soy moisturizer or lotion, paying careful attention to the eye and neck areas. It’s not necessary to use a separate eye cream. Just apply a thin layer near the eye area with your fingertips. Soy lotions are light but sturdy with a non-greasy feel. Soy lotions are naturally full of antioxidants that stimulate collagen production, even out skin tone, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Two simple steps and five minutes of time are all you need to replenish and rejuvenate skin while you sleep.
